A bloody good (table-)read?

Yesterday, I discussed my busy-ness… not really business. And I teased another announcement.

And here it is:

Andronicus Table-Read
June 8
Facebook event page

I will be holding a table-read of a script edit/adaptation of Titus Andronicus, on June 8 at the Elite Theatre Company in Oxnard.

What makes this different? Well, as I outline in the “about” section of the Facebook event I created for it:

For those who don’t know, I’ve been working on a script edit/adaptation of Shakespeare’s Titus Andronicus, to be performed by an almost all-female cast, making some major characters–like the title general–female, and allowing for other characters to be performed as any gender (only three characters have to be portrayed male).

As I can only edit so much before I need to hear whether it’s working or not, I am holding a table-read of the latest iteration of the script on Saturday, June 8, on the Elite Theatre Company’s South Stage. The read-through will take place at noon, with a debrief over pizza at Topper’s to follow.

I need women. A lot of women (15 would be optimal). And one dude, maybe a second to read stage directions if we get only the minimum number of women.

Please pass this along to any actresses you think might be interested.

Direct message, email, or call me, or leave a comment below to sign up to read.

Who knows if this will ever see the light of stage, but I’d sure love to hear what it might sound like if it does…

Thanks!

The response thus far has been pretty incredible. Just over two days, and I have 16 female readers RSVPed (and I had most of them after 24 hours).

I cannot wait to work on this… will it ever see the light of stage? who knows, who cares… but man (or should that be woman), have I got some ideas…

a teaser…
