May I be Blunt… and the Archbishop of York?

Despite (or maybe a cause of) not posting anything for a long while–yeah, sorry for that skipping of an entire quarter of the year–I have been busy.

How busy?

Well…

Finished up the directing and run of As You Like It… and I know, I really need to debrief that in these pages. Then I was cast as Reverent Parris in The Crucible… and we finish our run this weekend. Been doing a couple of student films (yeah, still building that acting reel). Started teaching for an online college. Prepping another directorial project (#projectsthatmayneverseethelightofstage), but more on that later.

But the biggie is this…

Yep, I’m acting in another play. It’s a combination of the two parts of Henry IV. The First Part before intermission, the Second Part after.

But this takes me out of my comfort zone. Working with a group I’ve never worked with before. Outdoor Shakespeare. Audience to both sides, which means not only do I have to project, but I’ll have to do it for not just the audience in front of me, but those behind as well.

Cool stuff.

I’ll be playing Sir Walter Blunt in the first half, and the Archbishop of York in the second half. And it you know anything about the plays, you’ll know why I’m so excited about the first half of the play.

Stage combat, babies. And I get killed on-stage (again, a little out of my comfort zone, but I dig it).

Needless to say, I’ll be posting more details in the coming weeks.

But before that I’ll have yet another announcement tomorrow (I’m such the tease, ain’t I?)…
