As You Like It — Special SCHOOL-DAY Performance!

The Camarillo Skyway Playhouse is presenting Shakespeare’s classic pastoral comedy As You Like It from February 8 through March 10, with a special school-day performance on Tuesday, February 26 at 10am at the theater at 330 Skyway Drive near Camarillo Airport and Frontier High School.

Directed by Bill Walthall, moderator of the blog TheBillShakespeareProject.com and presenter at national symposia and international conferences, this production brings Shakespeare’s text into the 1980s, where the soundtrack is filled with pop music of the era and the costuming provides a shorthand for characterization. The show promises to be a wonderful introduction to the Bard, and so we are reaching out to local schools join us for a fun, accessible performance. For groups larger than 10, the ticket price is $10.00, and there will be an Q&A session with the director and cast following the performance. The director, a former English and drama teacher in the Oxnard Union High School District, has also made himself available for possible school visits to introduce the play and prepare the students for a live theater experience.
