AYL: oh, deer…

So, in As You Like It, there are quite a few props, including but not limited to: Rosalind’s necklace that she gives to Orlando, multiple poems, a letter, a sling, and–if you care to stage it–a dead deer.

And–oh–we plan to stage it.

Now, my first idea was to use one of those wire-frame Christmas decoration reindeer, but as we were rehearsing the scene (Who is he that killed the deer?), I decided I wanted something a little more real. But what? And–more importantly–how?

So, as I am wont to do in such times, I go to YouTube. And of course I found something…

And I was off.  I downloaded Rachel’s (chezlin) paper base, which I cut out, folded and taped…

Then I covered it with masking tape to solidify it and to soften–kinda–the harder edges…

Then papier-mache’d the sucker…

Meanwhile, producer Laura begins to work on the body…

and filled out…

So I’ve started to paint the head (the fabric scrap is what my Laura is using to cover the body)…

It’s not done yet… but it’s getting there…
