As You Like It… a flashback

As You Like It.

Four years ago,  I was just returning from a three-year break from the Project. And the first play to get a discussion at that point was As You Like It.

And I’ve been thinking about that play a little lately.

When I was in the heat of the Project, the last podcast for each show was a combination wrap-up and discussion of a directorial concept.

In August of 2014, I saw As You Like It set in the not-mythical city of Arden, NY (about midway between NYC and Woodstock) in the post-summer of love, summer of Woodstock.

I could still see it working there, but another idea is percolating. What about the 80s? Maybe I’m having another flashback to last summer’s The Merry Wives of Windsor at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival… but I can see in my head a poster with the tag-line “A totally rad 80s Shakespeare karaoke dance-party!”

But now that I’ve re-listened to that earlier podcast, I’m liking the Woodstock angle still as well.

Why am I thinking about this?

Too early to say, my friends, too early to say…
