Media Thursday: a change in direction…

Ohayo, Bardophile-san!

[feelin’ my half-Japanese roots today, I s’pose]

It’s Thursday, so it’s “Media Day”… and I don’t have a piece of Shakespeare-related media to review–though I did catch bits and pieces of the 1936 film with Norma Shearer and Leslie Howard…and wow… it’s a little off-putting to a 34 year-old Shearer playing the not-quite 14 year-old Juliet, and damned disturbing to see a 43 year-old Howard as Romeo (though it was a little better than John Barrymore’s 54 [but trying to be 24]) year-old Mercutio [note: Branagh’s recent stage version had Derek Jacobi as Mercutio, but that age difference was played for subtext]. From what I saw, Basil Rathbone’s Tybalt was ok…but let’s just say it hasn’t aged well.

ANYwhooo… what we’re really about today…

Today, it’s all about the project.

I’ve made some decisions.

Beginning next week, “This Week in Shakespeare“–after 200 episodes–is becoming a weekly VIDEO release.

You’ll still be able to watch it on the site, but it’ll stream from the Bill / Shakespeare Project YouTube page.

I’m in the midst of creating a new welcome video for the page, as well as a video version of the BSP merchandise commercial that appears on all my podcasts.

The plan is to also begin to release periodic informational (info-tain-ing?) videos on different concepts we’ve covered on the Project… maybe re-purposing some of the blog content visually. But for that, I’ll need your help. No, I’m not going crowdfunding or Patreon–though I just might later… no, I want to know what stuff (specifically) or what kind of stuff you’d like to see turned into short 3-7 minute videos.

Let me know in the comments below!
