Happy Birthday, Bill…but you get a gift!

Ah, April 23. Ol’ Bill’s birthday… not mine, silly (that was last month), but the Bard himself, Willie Shakes!

Honestly, we’re not completely sure if it is today or tomorrow. All we know is that he was baptized on the 26th. He died on the 23rd some 52 years later…and people like the symmetry of him being born and dying on the same day…and as they say in The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, “When the legend becomes fact, print the legend.”

Regardless if the birthday is today or tomorrow, you–my friends–can get a gift…

In June, the Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles is presenting a conflation of the two Henry IV plays. It seems that it may be a Falstaff-centric cut, as a pretty big name is playing the roguish knight: Tom Hanks.

Going against type, I would say.

Regardless, if you sign up for the Shakespeare Center’s email list, they’ll put you on the pre-sale list…which means you can purchase tickets TODAY instead of having to wait until having to wait until Friday when they go on sale to the general public.

I don’t know if it’s too late to sign up or not, but here’s a link to the site… and don’t say I never gave you a gift on Shakespeare’s birthday!
