OK, so you may or may not know that I’m a Whovian, a fan of Doctor Who. I’ve liked all the docs since the reboot over 10 years ago (though I didn’t start watching until five years ago), but I’ve really liked this latest Peter Capaldi 12th Doctor…especially after they dispensed with the whole Clara storyline.
Don’t get me started…
Well, earlier this year Capaldi announced his upcoming exit (as well as that of showrunner Steven Moffatt), so there’s been quite a bit of speculation as to who would be the 13th Doctor.
I’ve had a feeling for a long time now that it would be a woman. I was hoping it would be Hayley Atwell (a personal crush), or even (a dream I know) Helen Mirren.
Well, today we got the news. Yes, a woman. No, not Atwell.
Instead, Jodie Whittaker. I’ve seen her in both Broadchurch and Black Mirror, and loved her in both. It makes sense: new Who showrunner is Broadchurch showrunner, Chris Chibnall.
I’m excited. I’ve got high hopes. There’s going to be even higher expectations.
Sorry for the Bard-less Monday. Tomorrow, back to a Shakespeare news podcast, and Wednesday, we’ll finish off The Winter’s Tale plot summary.
